Spotlight on St. John Vianney

On January 25, 1962, St. John Vianney Catholic School started as a four-classroom school. Now a 21-room building on the beautiful and extensive St. John Vianney parish, our campus has undergone many changes to meet the spiritual and academic needs of our students in a diverse world. Dual Language ProgramSt. John Vianney School is proud to offer the first dual language program in the Diocese of Orlando. As a culturally and linguistically diverse community, we encourage our students to learn from one another about their culture and language in everyday situations. This program will help students grow into bilingual, bi-literate leaders who achieve academically at or above grade level in both languages. Our Current Progress: Dual LanguagePresently, 100% of our students in the program can follow verbal instructions in each language, and they have receptive understanding in each language as well. As our study demonstrates, students are thriving in this program, and overall proficiency improved tremendously throughout the previous school year. Looking to The Future: Dual LanguageBy 2026, St. John Vianney School will be a fully bilingual, dual-language school. We will have both language groups integrated into content instruction.STREAM StrategiesWe equip our students with skills critical to today’s modern world. STREAM encourages collaboration, develops critical and independent thinking, features project-based learning, exposes students to the creative process, and teaches them how to solve real-world problems. These strategies are incorporated throughout our curriculum.GEARS ProgramThis program is split into three main parts: a Gifted Program, an Enrichment Program, and a school-wide program to enhance Academic Rigor. Through GEARS, SJVS students become creative, critical, and caring thinkers. Enrichment ProgramsBetween music, technology, physical education, and visual arts, we offer enrichment programs that help students grow into balanced, well-rounded individuals. In our STEM Lab, students have the opportunity to learn and practice coding and robotics.
