Creative Easter Eggs

Decorating Easter eggs is a great way to get the entire family involved in a hands-on activity. This year, are you looking for creative new ways for you and your family to decorate Easter eggs? Take a look at these fun, simple styles that are perfect for every age.Marbled EggsWhat You Need:

  • *Small container filled with water
  • Nail polish (cheaper polishes work best)
  • Paper towel
  • Toothpicks
  • Eggs
  • Gloves
  1. Drop a single drop of each nail polish color into the water and continue to do so, layering the colors until it looks somewhat like the inside of a jawbreaker. You can do this with as many or as few colors as you like.
  2. If the colors do not fill the surface, use your toothpick to stretch them out.
  3. Use your toothpick to draw patterns and swirls in the colors.
  4. Dip the egg in, and get as much as covered as possible; if you want the whole egg covered, you’ll need to dip it twice.
  5. Use your toothpick again to pull out any leftover color that didn’t stick to your egg.
  6. Let dry!

*Note that doing this will ruin your container; it will only be able to be used for future craft projects.Speckled EggsWhat You Need:

  • Rice
  • Food coloring
  • Paper cups (as many cups as there are colors)
  • Lids for cups
  • Gloves
  • Hard-boiled eggs
  1. Spread your rice evenly amongst your cups.
  2. Add a few drops of food coloring into each cup, and then put the lid on. Shake the rice around for about 10 seconds until the food coloring has evenly distributed.
  3. Put your egg into the cup, and put the lid back on. Shake your egg until it’s completely covered with color.

Rubber Band EggsWhat You Need:

  • Rubber bands
  • Easter eggs
  • Food coloring
  • Paper cups
  1. Fill your paper cups about halfway with water, and add a few drops of food coloring to each cup.
  2. Wrap rubber bands around each egg. Use as many or few rubber bands as you like to create a pattern.
  3. Place your egg into one cup. After the dye has darkened the color to your liking, rotate your egg and place it into a different cup.
  4. Let dry before removing rubber bands.
